I posted the results in this manner after discussion with the participants. Only Nancy and I agreed to disclose our actual numbers, whereas everyone else chose to email me their results and I post whether they’ve lost, gained, or stayed the same weight. As you can see, we have a variety of results. Some of the participants were kind enough to allow me to share some of their week’s activities with us.
Nancy had an action packed week with work and charitable activities in her community, topped off with out-of-town guests for the weekend spent out for dinner and drinks. She was a bit nervous to weigh in and was relieved to learn her weight stayed the same, although not totally surprised because she does track what she eats daily (and as Nancy explains, she even tracks all of her junk food splurges and drinks) and did keep to her exercise routine.
MmBe and LilJess are related and do encourage one another and join each other for exercise. Their schedule is crazy for sure with work during the day, then exercise, and every night this week, they had a different event, party or group activity they were expected attend. In reading through their email, I was exhausted just trying to figure out how they were able to get so many different things done in a week’s time.
My week was also a race from start to finish. On Monday, an appointment after work, Tuesday night, Bariatric Support Group Meeting, Wednesday night, Bible Study which included a Thanksgiving Gathering. We were all asked to bring a dish. So my dish was a vegetable tray with dip. Thursday, I went to the YMCA and did a Body Pump class, weight lifting. Friday, I worked late. Saturday and Sunday were cleaning house, laundry, cooking and errands to the various stores as we have a few projects we are working on around the house, in preparation for the holidays. Then, today, I was running around at work between our two facilities and on the way back to my office, I passed by my surgeon’s office to drop off some flowers and they were kind enough to include me in their Thanksgiving Lunch.
As I mentioned earlier, I made a vegetable tray with a dip to bring to Bible Study Thanksgiving Gathering.
Here is the list of ingredients
For Dip (Note: I prepared the dip the night before)
- 3 – 6 oz containers Fage 0% Plain Greek Yogurt
- 1 Envelope Lipton Vegetable Soup Mix
- In a container with an airtight lid, mix greek yogurt and vegetable soup. Cover and place in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
For Vegetable Tray
- 1/2 Head Cauliflower – cut into bite sized pieces
- 1 Stalk Broccoli – cut into bite sized pieces
- 1/2 oz bag Baby Carrots
- 1/2 Carton Cherry Tomatoes
- 4 Stalks Celery – cut into match sticks
- 1 Med. Yellow Squash – cut into match sticks
- 10-12 (more as needed) Pieces Artisan Lettuce
- 1-18″ or 24″ Round Plastic Tray ( I bought the tray in the dollar store)
- Wash and then pat dry all ingredients
- Place lettuce on the bottom of the tray creating a layer of greenery.
- I took the container of dip out of the refrigerator and placed the greens around the container on the plastic tray so the dip container would have a solid foundation and not be able to tip over
- Then simply get creative and stack the vegetables in any pattern of your choosing. This is what I came up with.
So, this is the first week in a nutshell!!
I want to wish everyone a Blessed Thanksgiving!
