Here’s What’s Happening for Week 4 of the Holiday Weight Challenge. Just getting back into my regular routine has been a real struggle. At this time of year nothing is really routine right? With the holidays right around the corner, life is hectic. To say I am exhausted, is an understatement.
Since being out-of-town last week, I found this week to really fly by. Are you finding yourself short on time these days? My weekend was spent running errands on Saturday, then to a wonderful party on Saturday night. The party was so much fun with a Holiday Ugly Sweater theme, games and a desert exchange. There was a food and dessert table and bar filled with everyone’s favorite things. So, how did I handle the party? Since I knew I would be going to this party, I had two protein shakes earlier that day, then a greek yogurt. I didn’t have any carbs as I was saving them for the party, hence, dessert. LOL. When we got to the party, I had a small glass of red wine. I really cannot drink much at all since my surgery, so one glass of wine is now my limit. The food was great with all sorts of selections. I did notice how many different types of protein packed choices there were so I thought that was great. Sunday we got our Christmas Tree up and decorated. I have spent the past few days putting finishing touches on it which is something I always do.
Then, we were on a long road trip to pick up my son from College as the fall semester has just finished. It’s really nice to have him home again! As I have been busy with unexpected travels, invitations to parties, long road trip, errands, shopping, work, getting my home decorated and ready for the holidays, life these days is very hectic. As we all know it’s a challenge just trying to stay organized and not feel frazzled, let alone trying to be sure we are eating well, getting enough sleep and finding time to get exercise in.
I will be honest with you, this year, I feel more pressed for time than last year. I couldn’t put my finger on it actually, but in thinking about it, my schedule is much different from last year, in a good way. My family and I are doing more things than last year which has been great. Last year for the Christmas holiday, we went to visit family in Connecticut which included one of the most memorable trips to New York City. This Christmas holiday, we are staying in Miami to spend the holiday at home.
This Week’s Holiday Weight Challenge has gotten off track and not everyone sent me their results. I did have some conversations with our contestants and everyone has committed to getting back on schedule for next week. This is a special week with Christmas Eve and Hanukkah falling on the same day. I want to wish everyone a Joyous, Blessed, Safe holiday, filled with love, family, faith, friends, laughter and last but not least, good food.
