I am a proud member of OAC – Obesity Action Coalition.

From their website, here’s what OAC is all about, ” The Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) is a more than 54,000 member-strong 501 (c)(3) National non-profit organization dedicated to giving a voice to the individual affected by the disease of obesity and helping individuals along their journey toward better health through education, advocacy and support.”

This is a wonderful organization actively working towards making a difference in how we deal with the disease of obesity. I found OAC a few years ago and have enjoyed being a member ever since. It’s such a positive organization and I’ve always been amazing with the resources and how much help and guidance they offer. One of their missions is advocacy on  governmental policies related to obesity. It’s great to know that those of us who suffer with obesity have a voice representing their best interests with our law makers in Washington D.C. Their involvement encompasses looking to change obesity care on all levels, from patient care and education, to weight bias in our society, to name just a few areas OAC is passionately focused on.

In April,  I was very honored when OAC reached out to interview me regarding my story. I am proud to share it with you and  the member newsletter for May is included here.

I would encourage you to take a look at OAC’s website, http://www.obesityaction.org. So many of use are touched by this disease. It affects such a large percentage of our population and within our families. It has always been one of my goals to help others who are suffering with obesity. If you are interested in being more in tune with what is being done to combat this terrible disease, I invited you to become a member. It will keep you informed of the latest news relating to how we are working to better offer solutions to fight obesity.
