If you’re anything like me, the more I’ve been told to drink more water, the less I want to drink. But then, I started to do research using myself as the test participant to see if drinking more water really makes any sort of difference and you know what I learned? Drinking more water really does a body good! So, as we begin a new year, 2018 The Year of Possibility, I’d like to get things started in the right direction! Let’s Get Our Drink ON – H20 That IS! I want to ask everyone to join me in drinking 2 extra glasses – that’s just 16 ounces more each day. If you are already a water drinker, that’s great. You are off and running! This challenge will not be difficult for you. Even if you currently drink a good amount of water, I’m asking you to add 2 more glasses to your daily intake.
From what researchers, doctors, and dietitians have been telling us about the importance of drinking water does have truth in it. It’s not a bunch of mumbo jumbo! There are studies, research and solid scientific data to support their recommendations. Over the past 4 years, I’ve learned a lot about the significance of drinking water and would like to point out some of the benefits I’ve experienced, which are also some of the very findings that our medical community has been drilling into us for years.
Here’s a list of some positive benefits of drinking water
- Keeps hunger at bay, helping with weight loss by boosting metabolic rate, increasing our metabolism which helps us burn calories.
- Less Food cravings
- Decreased Heartburn
- Regulates bowel movement easing and/or preventing constipation
- Helps kidney function by flushing toxins out of the body
- Helps Prevent hangovers – since alcohol can lead to dehydration, drinking water in between beverages with alcohol helps keep you hydrated. A trick I learned back in college,may drinking a glass of water before going to bed after a night of drinking, helped me avoid having a hangover the next morning.
- Skin looks better, eliminates dryness, keeping skin hydrated and looking youthful
A great trick to help convince you that drinking water wonderful way to help us with our weight loss goals is by drinking water 1/2 hour before meals. Research has shown that this timing is the most effective way to give us that full feeling, so we in turn eat fewer calories.
Scientists have proven that by drinking 2 liters of water per day, will increase our metabolic rate allowing us to burn and additional 96 calories. That’s just by drinking water. Imagine how many more calories we would burn if we change our eating habits and exercise. (We’ll get to that later in the year! LOL).
So, the goal for the month of January is to add 2 glasses of water daily. I’d like to hear how you’re doing and will check in weekly and update you on my progress as well share some fun tips on how to add the extra water everyday.
