I’m working on a new meal and eating plan these days. Earlier, I shared a photo of my Jaxx Fitpak on Instagram and wanted to continue the conversation and let you in on all the fun that I’m having these days!
For almost 3 years now, I’ve been eating my meals in the same or similar pattern of 5 smaller meals, 2 1/2 to 3 hours apart. On some days, if I had a long day, and followed this routine, I would eat 6-7 times for the day! I will tell you that this pattern started to stress me out. I felt as though I was eating all the time, like grazing or snacking all the time, which we all know is one of those dangerous, slippery slopes we can sometimes find ourselves on and a sure-fire way to gain weight. I was fearful of changing my meal plan as this way of eating had served me well for so long. One thought that haunted me was, ” If it’s not broken, don’t fix it,” and was terrified to make a change that would result in weight gain. But, I thought it was more important to use this as a learning opportunity and see what I would learn from the experience and if a change would serve me better. So, I took a deep breath, prayed about it, and decided to move forward and see how it would go.
First and foremost, was my schedule. When would I eat, how much, and also how would I transport my food selections. I planned the meals out over the weekend, chose a few recipes to cook, made my shopping list and got myself organized.
I saw this Jaxx Fitpak on the website and decided to buy it. I received it last Friday, which worked perfectly with my new plan. This Jaxx comes with 3 storage containers, a water bottle and an icepack. It seemed like the perfect fit for my adventure.
So, I cooked my recipes, got my other meal favorites ready and I was off and running.
Take a look at what I ate.
For my breakfast meal, I had the Canadian Bacon and Eggs Quiche which included the super greens of swiss chard and spinach. It was so awesome, had great depth of flavors and was super filling and nutritious with the added greens. I posted the recipe earlier so you can give it a try for yourself. Unless you hate spinach and leafy dark greens, you should find this Quiche surprisingly tasty.
Filled With Healthy Choices Spinach Salad with Eggs! Canadian Bacon & Eggs Quiche Fage Greek Yogurt &Berries
For my lunch meal, I packed one of the larger storage containers with some organic spinach and topped it with a hard-boiled egg, sliced cucumbers and organic cherry tomatoes. I keep a bottle of light salad dressing at work so added that after. I love Ken’s Steakhouse Lite Balsamic Vinegarette. It has wonderful flavors and adds a bright, savory kick to the salad.
For my third meal, I had my tangy and sweet dish of Fage 0% Greek Yogurt and Organic Strawberries with a package of Stevia. I do eat Greek Yogurt every week! Some weeks I have it 5 times or more and other weeks once or twice. It just all depends on my mood! This is one of my top go to dishes and it checks all the boxes – low fat, check, low calories, check, low carbs, check, filling, check, high protein, check and check!! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, there’s absolutely no cooking involved in this dish so, if you are allergic to cooking or pressed for time, this is a well balanced, nutritious meal selection.
Overall, my new eating plan is working out very well. I’m drinking more water in between my meals and trying to pay attention to my body cues to learn the difference between when it’s time to eat and when I need to drink more water.
The burning question on everyone’s mind, right? DID I GAIN WEIGHT? I am so happy to report that my weight remained the exact same as when I started and my body fat percentage decreased by 1 percent! That’s a huge victory in my book! I’ll check back with you on my progress with this new eating plan adventure in another month. In the meantime, let’s get back to getting our move on!!
