I’ve shared a photo of my pantry so you can see I really need some help organizing and cleaning up my pantry!
With the end of summer and the beginning of the school year quickly upon us, I’m looking forward to getting a fresh start this fall.
Here are 4 quick tips to get the pantry clean out started today:
- Take everything out of your pantry and place it on your counter or dining room table. If your pantry is large, it might be a good idea to work one shelf at a time. Since my pantry is deep, I’ve decided to take that one shelf at a time approach.
- Arrange the items by type and take an inventory so you know exactly what you have.
- Wipe clean each shelf and the interior of your pantry space to remove any items that may have spilled.
- Out with the old – check canned goods, boxed pasta, cereals, and any other items that have an expiration date and discard anything that has expired. Inspect canned goods to be sure they are not dented or bulging and discard anything that doesn’t have labels. Normally, flour and wheat products have a tendency to attract small worms and bugs. As a rule of thumb, I normally store my flours in tightly sealed, reusable glass containers in the refrigerator. This way, my flour and wheat products stay fresh and pest free.
