Yes, I LOVE THIS PROTEIN SHAKE!!
Yes, I LOVE THIS PROTEIN SHAKE!!

You may be curious as to what has me so passionate?

Believe it our not, it’s a protein shake! Yes seriously, I have  experimented with many different versions and discovered a winning combination for the creamiest, tastiest, whey protein shake. Right now, I am using Dynamize Elite 100% Whey Protein Chocolate Flavor.  I do have a few favorites in my rotation because I drink a protein shake everyday, so through trial and error, I have found a few other brands I like, such as Jay Robb Whey Protein, Quest Brand,  and GNC 100 % Whey Protein, just to name a few. I do also use some pre-made drinks that taste delicious, but ever since I have been testing out the powders that are available (and the choices on whey protein powders seem endless), I’ve been using less of those pre-made drinks so I could have some fun making my own creations. I could really go on and on about all of these ingredients and will post something at another time going into a lot more detail about each of the ingredients. For now, I would like you to try one of these protein shakes yourself and then share with me your comments and photos of your creations. If you haven’t used any protein powders before and don’t know where to begin, I would suggest stopping by your local GNC, VitaminShoppe or Whole Foods Market.  Instead of purchasing a big tub of powder, ask one of the staff to show you their selection of individual protein powder packages.  If you prefer to shop online, click here to check out my favorites where you will find a selection of items available to choose from.  This is the fun part where you get to experiment and get creative!

If you are not a  fan of Coconut Milk, I would suggest Almond Breeze Unsweetened Vanilla  Almond Milk or Fairlife Fat Free Milk. I used Almond Breeze Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk as my first liquid when I began making my own shakes and used it for over a year! I did enjoy the Almond Milk but just wanted to try different alternatives. I then decided to try Coconut Milk – Unsweetened. In comparison, the coconut milk gave the shake a creamier, more full-bodied and luscious quality over the Almond milk.  Then, my son wanted to try Fairlife Milk and so I bought the Fairlife Fat Free Milk for myself, which is an ultra filtered milk that is new to us here in Miami. Adding the Fairllife Milk to the protein powder gives the shake a full-bodied, creamier consistency than the Almond Breeze. So the Coconut Milk and Fairlife Milk are my new go to choices. I tend to use the Coconut Milk more simply because of the calorie content and I also like the fact that it’s Organic. I hear the mantra of my dietitian running through my head about drinking my calories.( his mantra is – don’t drink your calories! LOL) So,I really try to keep the calories as close to 250 calories or less for my protein shakes.

Here”s the Basic Recipe

1 cup So Delicious  Unsweetened Coconut Milk

1 Scoop Dynamize Elite 100% Whey Protein Powder (Other favorites are Quest- all of their flavors are amazing, Jay Robb Whey Protein Powder, GNC Whey Protein)

2 tbsp. PBfit Peanut Butter Powder – OMG whoever invented this should get a Nobel Prize ( Joke!! LOL) – This is Optional if you are not a peanut butter fan or have nut allergies

5 Ice Cubes – I have tried many combinations on this and have found that  5 ice cubes works the best!

Nutribullet – Streamlined and Powerful – I love this gadget!!

Blend Well

This is so creamy and delicious you think you are cheating!

Enjoy!!

  1. Looks delish! I can’t wait to try it. So far I’m plain Jane. I use Inspire Vanilla bean and skim milk in a shaker and a few ice cubes. I have to get the PB2 powder and the SO delicious cocnut milk…

    1. Thank you Beth! This shake is so quick and easy to make and tastes great! Please send me your pictures once you make it yourself.

  2. I am going to try it also once I come back from my trip.My shakes are just one whole banana and 1 tbsp peanut butter and some vanilla extract. After having it, I get hungry a little too quick.I have to add the protein powder……..
I will buy the same ingredients that you show Kim and make it.

    Thanks Kim !

    1. Hi Jesse, this is a great question. I bought the So Delicious brand of xoxonut milk in Walmart for $1.99! So as you can see, it was less expensive than fresh milk. Since I buy the protein powder and pb2 in large sizes, I would have to figure out the cost per serving to give you an idea of its cost. But to answer your question, I bought the Dynamize protein powder in GNC for $29.99, the PB2 in Costco for $ 9.99 and the coconut milk in Walmart for $1.99

  3. Definitely going to try this but with almond milk. Love love pb2! I’m very hesitant to try the sugar free chocolate chips but maybe I will. Thanks for sharing your recipe.

    1. Hi Sarah,
I use almond milk also and it was my primary liquid for over a year! I use the unsweetened vanilla as it’s lower in calories. I also LOVE PB2. You can use it in other things than protein shakes. The sugar free chocolate chips are really good but dangerous (LOL) meaning I can easily get carried away with them so I don’t use them often. Thank you for your comments!
