This is AMAZING

This is my Jaxx! What is this contraption you ask?
It’s my portable food storage unit. My sister surprised me with this wonderful gift and it’s been my everyday accessory every since! It comes with 6 individual containers that hold up to 1 cup of food. Each container has measurement markings to help you control your portion size. It also includes an ice pack and shaker bottle as you see in the photo, is has it’s own pouch on the side as well as a little vitamin/supplement pill box. I just fill it and go! I’ve even taken this with me on road trips where I filled it with sandwiches, fruit, yogurt enough to feed 2 or 3 people!

This is what one day in my Jaxx Looks Like!

So here is the inside of my Jaxx for one day’s worth of eating. Included is 1 container of Chobani Plain Greek Yogurt, on the same side of the Chobani is a container of blueberries, sliced mango, and on the top right hand side, 2 Sargento Reduced Fat Sharp Cheddar Cheese Sticks, my own creation – quinoa pilaf ( check my recipes page), and last but not least, sliced cucumbers and peppers.

Just Another Day At The Office!

What I like about Jaxx is that it’s neat and compact and it’s ability to hold a lot of different types of foods, both hot and cold.  It does keep your foods properly chilled all day so you don’t to worry about spoilage. I just find it really helps me prepare my meals ahead of time, pack up your Jaxx and your ready to go.

We don’t need a doctor or dietitian to tell us that planning ahead increases our chances of success as we are taking the time to put thought into our food selections.  When planning ahead, we tend to make healthier food selections which helps keep us on track.

Another way I have found my Jaxx helpful is by giving me room to pack up some extras just in case an attack of the munchies hits or I just get hungry a little earlier than expected. I will have healthy selections right there handy to pull from. On this day, I had my container of mangoes full which is 1 cup’s worth of sliced mangoes. Since I cannot eat all of that at once, I did have another serving at the 3pm time in the afternoon. On another day, I had a container with extra celery and carrots which helped me get through that time when I felt I needed a little something to crunch. I normally try to stick to my scheduled meals, but let’s be realistic, at times, we all need a little something else. So now, I make sure to put healthy, low-calorie choices in my Jaxx.

One of the things I was really challenged with on my previous weight loss attempts, was planning ahead for my meals and eating. Perhaps that’s one of  the reasons I didn’t have lasting weight loss success until now. By the time I prepared lunch for my husband and son, I couldn’t be bothered to prepare anything for myself. It just felt like so much extra work!  I ate a lot on the go, making spur of the moment decisions based on what I felt like eating that day and not focusing on whether my choices were healthy or not.  Now, in having the Jaxx, it makes planning my food for the day so much easier. It has taken the drudgery out of figuring out what I am going to eat and made it something fun! I actually look forward to packing up my Jaxx and even when I am food shopping now, I am always thinking about new things try in my Jaxx!

  1. Love this post..I have a Jaxx shaker I need to use that bag. I have lost 74 lbs in 5 months the difference was meal planning its true. Its so hard to keep it up though. I have to power through it. Do you have a certain day you meal prep? How many days do you do at once or each night/

    1. Hi Beth,
Thank you for your response. The Jaxx bag has really helped me to stay organized and helps me take control of what I eat by making the choices ahead of time and filling my bag with healthy foods. You have lost an astonishing amount of weight in such a short period of time! Congratulations! It’s obvious you are doing the right things! I normally do my food planning once a week, when I am getting my food shopping list ready for the next week. I look at the supermarket specials on Thursday evenings and make my list of items I will be purchasing for the next week. That way, I take advantage of some of the great buys available such as what fruits and vegetables are on special that week and purchase accordingly. For example, I eat greek yogurt everyday. Now that may seem boring to you, but I eat it plain with berries one day, the next day I eat a flavored, sugar free or low sugar greek yogurt like oikos or dannon light and fit, then a following day, I will add some nuts. This keeps some variety in my eating plan while still making good choices. But in eating yogurt everyday, I don’t necessarily chose the same brand. I will take advantage of what’s on sale that week and purchase accordingly. I do this same thing for my almond milk and coconut milk, along with the other items I buy. It’s not really about the brand so much to me, although I do prefer some brands over others. So, that I eat 5 times ( sometimes 6) per day, I know I need 25 meals for the work week in which I will need to have food for. That’s basically the way I begin to get my food plan together. Then, I have everything in my refrigerator and the night before, I will set everything up put food into containers as needed. In the morning I load up my Jaxx with the freezer packs and go.
